Take that dream and create a business that flies

I am Sally Pearce, small business owner and writer.

In 2014, I set up my successful consultancy and training business, helping insurance clients develop customer focussed business in the highly regulated financial services market. Alongside this I was also a yoga teacher. So I have experience in running two very different and successful businesses.

I know how it feels to run a small business. That initial nervous excitement as you step outside the comfortable world of employment, with its regular salary, benefits and job security.

Then the realisation of how much there is to learn - selling, marketing, pricing, bookkeeping, employing people, managing cash flow, and getting to grips with regulation (such as managing personal data) and dealing with HMRC.

Feet by your dreams words

I spent most of my working life in financial services. Honing my organisational skills, and understanding of complex rules and regulations. Communicating this to people with little understanding, in an interesting and accessible way, has been crucial to my success. I also love writing - creating interesting guidance and training for clients.

My corporate background gave me a lot of training and experience in mentoring. I’m also a qualified mediator. Add to that, the fact I love running my own business - from marketing, to pitching, to managing the finances, alongside juggling projects - it made perfect sense to become a business mentor on the government’s Help to Grow scheme - supporting small business owners on their journey through the business management course.
